Credit Card Company Lounges Dominate JD Power's Airport Satisfaction Rankings
The rise of airport lounges owned by credit card companies has shaken up the industry. According to a recent study by JD Power, the top three airport lounges in the US are those run by American Express, Capital One, and Chase. The American Express Centurion Lounge and the Capital One Lounge took the first two spots, followed closely by the Chase Sapphire Lounge by The Club.
The study surveyed 2,991 travelers who visited an airport lounge in the last year and found that lounges owned by credit card companies outperform those run by airlines. Key factors contributing to customer satisfaction included complimentary food and drink, staff service, cleanliness, amenities, ease of access, ambiance, and Wi-Fi.
However, overcrowding at these popular lounges has led to lower guest satisfaction. To combat this issue, many lounges have implemented reservation systems with waiting lists during peak hours. This trend may indicate a shift in consumer preferences towards credit card company-owned lounges over airline-run ones.
