Cuban Claims Meta and Google Profit from Anti-AI Sentiment
American billionaire Mark Cuban has sparked debate by suggesting that social media giants Meta and Google may benefit financially from amplifying negative sentiment towards artificial intelligence (AI).
Cuban made this claim on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating that algorithms push negative narratives about AI far more than positive ones. He suggested that the engagement generated by fear, anger, and anxiety around AI could become a revenue stream for these companies.
This comes amid rising opposition to AI infrastructure projects, with at least 75 data center developments worth $130 billion blocked or delayed in the first quarter of 2026. A Gallup survey found that 71% of Americans opposed AI data centers near their communities.
