Culinary Student Earns $1,000 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship
Cezar Nita, a culinary student at Daytona State College in Florida, has been selected as one of 220 Phi Theta Kappa members nationwide to receive a 2026 Coca-Cola Leaders of Promise Scholarship. The award comes with a $1,000 prize and is designed to help new Phi Theta Kappa members offset educational expenses while pursuing associate degrees.
The selection process for the scholarship focuses on academic achievement, community service, and leadership potential. According to Amanda Karpinski Gorman, executive director of the Phi Theta Kappa Foundation, research shows that Phi Theta Kappa members are four times more likely to complete a college degree than their peers.
Nita, a native of Romania, enrolled in Daytona State's Culinary Management program in fall 2025 and is on track to graduate in 2027. He has been actively involved in school events and volunteer work, showcasing his commitment to the hospitality industry.
