CyberPress Evaluates Top NAC Solutions for Different Use Cases
Network Access Control (NAC) solutions help determine which devices are allowed onto a network and what they can access once connected. The right NAC platform depends on the specific needs of the organization, such as managing large numbers of unmanaged medical devices or controlling contractor access to finance networks.
A recent evaluation by CyberPress compared eight leading NAC platforms from top cybersecurity companies. The evaluation matched each solution with a specific use case and assigned scores based on five criteria: device visibility and profiling, deployment realism, policy depth, ecosystem integration, and fit for size and budget.
Forescout was ranked highest for managing IoT, OT, and medical devices (8.8/10), thanks to its agentless discovery and classification capabilities. Cisco ISE was top-ranked for large enterprises with standardized Cisco networks (8.6/10) due to its unmatched policy granularity and deep integration with Cisco hardware.
HPE Aruba ClearPass was best-suited for wireless-first campuses (8.5/10), offering self-service onboarding, guest access, and role-based dynamic segmentation. The evaluation highlighted that NAC vendors have consolidated heavily in the market, leading to some confusion over vendor names and product offerings.
