D23 Fills Anaheim Convention Center with Disney Magic
The Disney fan event D23 has taken over Anaheim, California, filling nearly one million square feet of the Anaheim Convention Center with movies, TV shows, theme parks, and merchandise. Fans from all 50 states and 38 countries have arrived for a three-day celebration of Disney's various divisions, including Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar, Marvel, and Disney+. The event promises 'surprise after surprise' every day.
Walt Disney Animation Studios is showcasing its upcoming film Hexed, which will be released in November. Chief Creative Officer Jared Bush introduced the movie's unusual creation, Bucket, a magical cauldron with a personality of its own.
Pixar is also displaying its upcoming film Gatto for next year. Disney Imagineers are on hand to provide updates on projects announced at the previous convention two years ago. The Imagineering area is a must-visit for theme-park enthusiasts, offering a rare opportunity to see models and concepts behind attractions that fans may experience in person.
Immersive experiences allow fans to enter different worlds, such as the Grammy Awards red carpet or Camp Rock 3. Marvel fans can get an up-close look at Paul Bettany's costume from the upcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest. With hundreds of activities spread across the three-day event and more than 100 stars scheduled to make appearances, deciding what to see may be one of the weekend's biggest challenges.
