D23 Showcase Reveals Exciting Announcements Across Disney Franchises

The highly anticipated D23 Entertainment Showcase has come to an end, leaving fans buzzing with excitement. The event, hosted by Zootopia 2 stars Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan, featured a lineup of announcements that had fans eagerly waiting.

Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro opened the showcase by talking about the company's relationship with its fans, stating that Disney has something no other brand on Earth can claim - an actual connection with its audience. He noted that nearly half a million people are currently in Disney parks or on cruise ships, and millions more are watching their stories in theaters or at home.

The night was filled with announcements across various Disney franchises. In the Disney Live Action and Animation category, Lilo & Stitch 2 was confirmed to begin production in Hawaii later this year, directed by Chris Sanders, with a release date of May 26, 2028. The Bluey Movie debuted a teaser trailer and poster, featuring a game of Keepy Uppy with giant red balloons, and is set to hit theaters on August 6, 2027.

In the Pixar Animation Studios category, Incredibles 3 got an exclusive first look, directed by Peter Sohn, and is set to release on June 16, 2028. Coco 2 revealed concept art showing Miguel as a teenager, with Benjamin Bratt joining Pete Docter on stage to confirm that the film's villain returns.

Marvel Studios made several announcements, including VisionQuest, which debuted a trailer and poster with Paul Bettany and James Spader on stage, premiering October 14, 2026, on Disney+. The untitled X-Men film revealed its cast, including Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers, Christopher Abbott as Professor Charles Xavier, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Inde Navarrette as Rogue, and Maya Boyd as Storm.

Lucasfilm also made several announcements, including Ahsoka Season 2, which debuted a teaser trailer with Dave Filoni, Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christensen, and Eman Esfandi on stage, premiering January 20, 2027, on Disney+. Star Wars: Starfighter screened a sizzle reel for the room, directed by Shawn Levy.
