Data Leadership Shifts: Citi Singapore and Merck Appoint New Chiefs
Citi Singapore has appointed Shahzad Alam as its new Chief Data Officer. Alam previously served as Director, Data Analytics, Banking & International at Citi, where he drove the company's global analytics strategy across commercial impact, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and generative AI.
In his new role, Alam will focus on leveraging data, AI, and innovation to drive meaningful business outcomes and create value for clients. This appointment is part of a larger trend in the industry where companies are prioritizing data-driven decision-making.
Merck has also named Gaurav Gupta Executive Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer, effective September 1. Gupta joins Merck after over 27 years at Ernst & Young, where he most recently served as a Senior Partner in the Life Sciences Digital practice.
