Datadog's AI Moat Key to Future Growth Prospects
At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026, Datadog's chief financial officer David discussed the company's future growth prospects. He emphasized that its AI moat will be a key driver of growth, combining observability data with artificial intelligence to build models that predict application problems and eventually support auto-remediation.
Datadog is seeing traction in its AI business, with early revenue from AI monitoring through its Agent Observability product. However, the company acknowledged customer cost pressure, early-stage AI monetization, and the need to keep investing heavily to stay ahead.
The company's gross retention remains in the upper 90s, while net retention is rising, showing that customers are still expanding usage on the platform. Datadog is using product changes such as Infinite Cardinality Metrics, Flex Logs, and Federated Logs to help customers manage costs without leaving the platform.
