Dave Bautista Takes Over as Kratos in Amazon's God of War Series
Dave Bautista is set to play Kratos in Amazon's live-action 'God of War' series, replacing original lead Ryan Hurst after he suffered a serious on-set injury. Hurst tore his bicep while performing a stunt four months into the shoot in June.
The show's production will start again from scratch, with Emmy-winning director Frederick E.O. Toye directing the first two episodes featuring Bautista. This marks a possible different approach to the character of Kratos, which has been subject to online discourse after the release of the first-look image in February.
Bautista's extensive background as a professional wrestler is expected to help him prepare for the physically demanding role. The show follows father and son Kratos and Atreus as they embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye.
