Deal-Making Chatter Drives Financial Stocks Higher

Financial stocks have seen an uptick in recent days following reports of deal-making chatter.

Bloomberg highlighted several instances, including JPMorgan's asset manager nearing a deal to acquire Idex, a French heating and cooling network operator, for approximately €3.8 billion ($4.4 billion) including debt.

Separately, Blackstone has been in talks over a second large debt package to finance Anthropic's use of Alphabet's Google chips.

The increased deal-making chatter is seen as a sign that private credit is helping fund the heavy upfront costs of building AI systems.

This news has lifted expectations for advisory and arranging fees, which are typically collected when deals close. As a result, investors have bid up diversified names like JPMorgan, Blackstone, and Apollo.
