Decker Takes Medical Leave: Home Depot Earnings in Jeopardy?
Home Depot CEO Ted Decker has taken a brief medical leave that will last several months. The company's senior executive vice president of U.S. stores and operations, Ann-Marie Campbell, and CFO Richard McPhail will split Decker's duties during his absence.
The timing is awkward, coming just days before Home Depot releases its fiscal second-quarter results on August 18. However, the response from the company should alleviate some concerns for investors.
Campbell has been working at Home Depot since 1985, starting her career as a cashier and becoming one of the top executives over time. McPhail started working for Home Depot in 2005 and has been its CFO since 2019.
The company expects to release earnings that will provide insight into housing affordability, consumer behavior, and demand for renovations. Analysts expect Home Depot to earn $4.71 per share in the fiscal Q2, compared with $4.68 in the previous year.
