DeepMind Alumni Launch Fusionality to Accelerate Grid-Scale Fusion Power
Two Google DeepMind alumni, Federico Felici and Jonas Buchli, have founded Lausanne-based Fusionality to accelerate fusion power for the grid.
The company aims to develop control systems and simulation environments that can be fine-tuned by startups for their specific reactor designs.
Felici and Buchli met while working on an experimental tokamak at EPFL in Switzerland, where Felici was developing simulations and machine learning interfaces for fusion devices.
They realized that many companies make their own control systems from scratch, but 80% of each system is the same.
Fusionality plans to build off this commonality to develop a suite of control systems which startups can then fine-tune to work with their specific design.
