Defense Contracts Boost Local Economies with Millions in New Work
A recent boost in contracts from the Department of Defense has brought millions of dollars to local workforces in Beavercreek and Fairborn. BlueHalo LLC, a company based in Beavercreek, was awarded an $11.2 million modification to a previously awarded contract to improve airmen readiness. This brings the total face value of the contract to $41.2 million from $29.9 million.
The work on this project is expected to be completed by February 13, 2028. The award came from AFRL at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where the lab is headquartered.
In Fairborn, Boeing will continue working on a Navy contract for the MQ-25 'Stingray' drone. Boeing was awarded a $12.6 million modification to a previously awarded contract. The MQ-25A Stingray is said to be the Navy's first carrier-based unmanned aircraft, built for unmanned aerial refueling.
The majority of work on this project will be performed in St. Louis, Mo., but part of it will go to Fairborn and is expected to be completed by November 2029.
