Delia Whitley, 91, Leaves Lasting Legacy in Georgia Community
Mary Delia Whitley, known to her friends as Delia, passed away at the age of 91 on August 31, 2026. Born in Dothan, Georgia, she grew up there and graduated from Dothan High School in 1953.
Delia continued her education at Stephens College in Missouri and Auburn University, where she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. After graduating, she worked as a travel agent for American Express in Atlanta, where she met her husband, Hudson Whitley.
The couple married for 51 years until Hudson's passing in 2013. Delia was involved in various social and charitable affairs during their time in Atlanta and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
She is survived by her son, Hudson Jr., daughter Elizabeth, and four grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens, Georgia.
