Dell PCs Struck Down by Windows 11 Update Bug Affects Over 245 Models

A bug in Windows 11 updates caused issues on over 245 Dell PC models, including shutdowns, performance problems, and overheating. The problem occurred after Microsoft's June and July updates, which affected PCs with Intel technology.

Dell initially released a partial list of affected models, but later provided a more comprehensive list that included hundreds of PC models from various lines, including Alienware, XPS, and Inspiron.

The issue was caused by an incompatibility between the Intel Innovation Platform Framework (IPF) Processor Participant driver and the Windows USB-C Connection Manager interface introduced in the June and July updates.

Mircosoft later released an out-of-band update, KB5121767, which addressed the problem on affected PCs. Dell recommends ensuring that Build 26200.8894 or newer is installed to avoid these issues.
