Deloitte's $21.5M DEI Settlement Sparks Warnings to Top Contractors
The US Department of Justice has announced another large settlement under its Civil Rights Fraud Initiative, this time with Deloitte paying $21.5 million to resolve allegations that it maintained illegal diversity, equity, and inclusion practices while performing federal contract work.
This is the second major settlement in just four months, following IBM's payment of over $17 million for similar reasons in April.
The Justice Department alleged that Deloitte violated the False Claims Act by certifying compliance with federal nondiscrimination rules while applying race and sex preferences in hiring, promotions, and staffing.
The company denied discriminatory conduct but admitted no liability. The settlement is a clear warning to other companies that they must review their employment practices and ensure they align with legal requirements.
