Delta Boeing 757 Makes Emergency Return After First Officer Suffers Medical Emergency

A Delta Air Lines Boeing 757-300 made an emergency return to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on August 31, 2026, after the first officer suffered a reported medical emergency.

The aircraft, Flight 1208, had departed MSP at 11:29 a.m. local time and was heading to Orlando International Airport when the crew contacted air traffic control about an hour later to report a 'potential pilot incapacitation.'

According to ATC.com, which obtained an audio recording of the incident, the crew member told controllers, 'We need to return to the field,' followed by, 'Nature of the emergency: we have a potential pilot incapacitation. We would like to return immediately.'

The first officer reportedly experienced chest pain, numbness in the arms and legs, and a racing heart rate in the high 100s.

Flight-tracking information indicates that the aircraft returned to Minneapolis after making a turn back toward the airport, landing safely at approximately 11:50 a.m., around 19-20 minutes after its initial departure.
