Delta Boosts Premium Seating on 767-400ER Aircraft

Airline giant Delta Air Lines is reportedly upgrading its Boeing 767-400ER aircraft to offer more premium seating options. According to aviation insider JonNYC, the airline plans to increase the number of Premium Select seats from 20 to 26 and Comfort+ seats from 28 to 42. This upgrade comes as travelers are increasingly willing to pay for improved onboard experiences.

The Boeing 767-400ER is a workhorse for Delta, with 21 aircraft deployed on various European leisure routes and long domestic flights. The current configuration accommodates 238 seats across four classes of service: Delta One, Premium Select, Comfort+, and Main Cabin. Passengers in Delta One enjoy fully lie-flat beds, while those in Premium Select have 38-inch seat pitches.

The upgrade to more premium seating will help Delta increase its revenue as travelers are willing to pay for upgraded experiences. In fact, premium cabins and non-main cabin products provide over half of the airline's overall revenue. The move also underscores Delta's commitment to flying these aircraft for years to come, despite rising maintenance costs.
