Delta Boosts Premium Seats on MAX 10 Fleet
Delta Air Lines is revamping its Boeing 737 MAX 10 fleet to include a larger first class cabin, featuring 24 premium seats. This upgrade reflects Delta's broader strategy of increasing premium inventory across its fleet to capture more high-value travel demand.
The new configuration represents a significant shift in emphasis from simply adding capacity to extracting more revenue from each departure. Delta has positioned the MAX 10 as a replacement for older, smaller aircraft and will feature nearly one-third of the jet's seats in premium cabins.
In contrast to its earlier plans, which included only 20 first class seats, the updated configuration significantly increases the number of premium seats at the front of the aircraft. This change allows Delta to treat premium seating as a core revenue category rather than an amenity attached to its main cabin.
