Delta Flight Makes Emergency Landing After Sudden Cabin Pressure Loss
A Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City made an emergency landing in Las Vegas after a sudden loss of cabin pressure caused the plane to plummet over 27,000 feet. The Boeing 737-900ER was carrying 174 passengers and six crew members when the incident occurred on September 6.
According to air traffic control communications, the pilot requested an emergency descent to 9,000 feet after reporting a rapid loss of pressure. The plane descended from its cruising altitude of 36,200 feet in just 10 minutes before landing safely at Harry Reid International Airport.
The passengers were rebooked on a replacement aircraft and completed their trip later that evening. Delta officials praised the flight crew for following emergency protocols to bring the plane to a safe altitude.
