Demolition Begins on Abandoned Boeing Office Complex in North Renton
Demolition crews have begun tearing down a former Boeing office complex in North Renton, Washington, following years of vandalism and neglect. The property was sold to California-based Ion Renton in 2021, but its new owner failed to secure the facilities properly.
Transients moved into the buildings, and police were called to the site nearly 50 times over a three-year period. The property's condition deteriorated significantly, with copper wiring stripped from the walls and extensive damage from fires and structural vandalism.
The demolition comes as a relief to nearby residents who had been frustrated by the city's slow response to the issue. Future plans for the multi-acre parcel are uncertain, but it is currently listed for sale as vacant land primed for a mixed-use development.
