DepEd Brings Microsoft Copilot to One Million Filipino Teachers
The Department of Education (DepEd) has partnered with Microsoft to grant one million Filipino public school teachers access to Microsoft Copilot, accelerating artificial intelligence integration in classrooms nationwide. The initiative aims to reduce administrative workloads and assist in lesson planning.
Under the partnership, educators will receive enterprise access to Microsoft Copilot Chat to help draft school communications, build curriculum-aligned lesson plans, create assessments, and summarize student progress. This builds on a nationwide AI skilling program launched in early 2026 through the National Educators' Academy of the Philippines (NEAP), which drew over 175,000 educator registrations and nearly 75,000 live attendees for its initial training modules.
DepEd officials emphasized that the deployment is designed to complement teachers' professional judgment rather than replace it. Education Secretary Sonny Angara said, 'Our learners deserve an education system that is ready for the future.'
