DHL Freight Plane Experiences Brake Malfunction at LAX
A Boeing 737-800 freighter operated by DHL experienced an apparent brake malfunction while landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on August 26, 2026. The aircraft, registered N326FL, was flying as Flight K5-1814 from Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).
The plane touched down normally on Runway 25L before white smoke began pouring from the main landing gear. Seconds later, loud pops were heard and flames erupted beneath the aircraft.
The jet continued its landing roll with fire and sparks trailing from the main gear before slowing to a stop on the runway. Airport fire crews arrived shortly afterward and sprayed the landing gear area.
