DHL Freighters Tire Explodes After Landing at LAX
A DHL freighter's tire exploded and caught fire after landing at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on Wednesday night. The incident occurred when a Boeing 737-800, registration N326FL, arrived from Phoenix at 11:06 PM.
Brakes locked during rollout, triggering a rear left tire explosion and fire near mid-runway. Fire trucks responded immediately, using water cannons to suppress flames without crew or passenger harm.
The aircraft, which is 24.7 years old, previously served SAS and Mesa Airlines before conversion to cargo use. It remains grounded pending inspection by authorities.
