Diageo Taps Procter & Gamble Veteran for Cost-Cutting Drive
Diageo, the Scotch whisky giant behind brands such as Johnnie Walker and Glenfiddich, has appointed Alex Keith to its board of directors. Ms Keith, a veteran of Procter & Gamble, brings over 35 years of international consumer goods experience to her new role.
Her appointment comes shortly after Diageo's CEO, Sir Dave Lewis, unveiled plans to cut $1 billion in operating costs over the next three years. The plan involves redesigning the company's operating framework and may result in job cuts at distilleries in Scotland.
Diageo praised Ms Keith as an 'accomplished global business leader' with expertise spanning general management, consumer products, brand building, supply chain, and enterprise leadership. She will join the board on November 5, subject to shareholder approval, and become a member of the remuneration and nomination committees.
