Dimon Leads Charge Against AI Threats in New Industry Alliance
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon is leading an effort to form a new alliance focused on mitigating artificial intelligence (AI) risks. According to Reuters, Dimon has personally reached out to CEOs of over 40 companies across various industries, including finance, energy, and technology, to join the initiative.
The proposed alliance would expand on the Alliance for Critical Infrastructure, which JPMorgan co-founded. Dimon's involvement is significant, given his influence as head of the US' largest bank.
He has been vocal about the potential threats posed by advanced AI systems, warning that they could be used to devastating effect if not properly contained. For example, he recently stated that 'you're giving ballistic missiles to individuals with Mythos,' in reference to Anthropic's AI model, which banks are now testing.
The US government has also taken steps to address the growing concern over AI risks. Last month, it launched Gold Eagle, a voluntary initiative using frontier AI capabilities to identify vulnerabilities and prioritize security weaknesses.
