Dimon's $12M Endowment Gift Supports Long-Term Stability at 12 HBCUs
JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon and his wife Judy have made a significant philanthropic move by donating $12 million to 12 historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) through their James and Judith K. Dimon Foundation.
The gift establishes the Dimon Fund to Advance Economic Opportunity, with each of the selected schools receiving $1 million in permanent endowment capital. This money counts towards a larger $5 million institutional match tied to UNCF's $1.5 billion capital campaign, aimed at strengthening the long-term financial footing of member institutions nationwide.
This donation stands out from traditional corporate gifts, as it goes directly into permanent endowment capital rather than funding specific programs or projects. This structure is designed to compound over decades, providing flexibility and durability for the schools.
