Disney Abandons Spouse Benefits Amid Rising Healthcare Costs
The Walt Disney Company is changing its benefits for employees' spouses, affecting over 200,000 workers. Starting in 2027, Disney will no longer cover spouse benefits if the spouse has a job that offers any kind of healthcare, even if it's worse.
The move aims to mitigate rising healthcare costs and adapt to industry shifts. Employees have been notified that their spouse will be removed from the company insurance plan if they have access to another health coverage option.
This change is part of Disney's efforts to revamp its well-being programs, including introducing a new Employee Stock Purchase Plan and adjusting its health insurance plans.
