Disney, ABC Sue FCC Over Alleged Censorship and Control
The Walt Disney Company and American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) have sued the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), claiming violations of their free speech rights.
According to the lawsuit, the FCC's investigations and regulatory actions against ABC have been a retaliatory campaign of censorship and control against its broadcast and editorial decisions.
The network cited an FCC probe into its show, The View, which has twice been investigated after it aired criticisms of the Trump administration. ABC also called out President Donald Trump's remarks against Jimmy Kimmel Live!, following the comedian's monologue that referenced the killing of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk.
The lawsuit noted that Trump called for the network to lose its broadcast license after ABC did not air his primetime address in July.
