Disney Adapts Kingdom Hearts for TV Anime Series
The Walt Disney Company has greenlit an original anime series based on the popular video game franchise Kingdom Hearts. The series, which is being developed in partnership with Tetsuya Nomura and SQUARE ENIX, will be a brand-new story that expands on the universe of Kingdom Hearts while celebrating its beloved characters.
Ayo Davis, president of Disney Kids & Family, stated that 'Kingdom Hearts has captivated gamers everywhere with its unique blend of adventure and imagination.' The series will join other original animated shows on Disney+, which include Dragon Striker, Phineas and Ferb, Big City Greens, and upcoming titles like Warrior Cats and Journey.
The Kingdom Hearts anime series is the first-ever adaptation of the franchise for television. It will bring a new way to experience the world that fans have grown to love through the games.
