Disney Adapts Kingdom Hearts Into Anime Series to Lure YouTube's Youngest Viewers
Disney's efforts to capture YouTube's youngest viewers are heating up as the company announced plans to adapt the popular video game franchise Kingdom Hearts into an anime series.
The move is part of Disney Kids & Family's (DKF) strategy to create a lifelong bond between young fans and the Disney brand, which has been a staple in children's entertainment for over a century.
According to Debra OConnell, chairman of Disney Entertainment Television, 'kids and family is really where the relationship with Disney begins.' She adds that by reaching fans at an early age, Disney can create an emotional connection that lasts a lifetime, making it easier for them to grow with the brand across different stories, franchises, and experiences.
DKF's efforts are crucial in a landscape where YouTube and social media platforms have increasingly become major competitors for Disney's youngest viewers. To stay ahead of the competition, DKF is focusing on creating new stories and franchises that resonate with kids now while also building on classic Disney IP.
