Disney Addresses Ticket Price Concerns with New Attractions and Areas
Disney executives addressed concerns over rising ticket prices and park attendance during a presentation with Goldman Sachs. The company's Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Hugh Johnston, discussed the issue, citing new attractions and areas as added value to the parks.
The recent release of Disney's 2027 prices showed a one-day, one-park ticket for Magic Kingdom reaching a record price of $219. However, park attendance does not seem to reflect these high prices, according to Michele Atwood, founder of The Main Street Mouse blog.
Johnston explained that the company prices its tickets based on value delivered to consumers. He stated, 'Price is what you pay, value is what you get.' By investing in new attractions and areas, such as Piston Peak National Park at Magic Kingdom and Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, Disney aims to provide more value to its customers.
The company also discussed its shift in focus towards domestic travelers. According to Johnston, Disney saw fewer international visitors in the last quarter than anticipated but was able to pivot its marketing efforts successfully, resulting in stronger-than-expected attendance numbers.
