Disney and Epic Games Launch Immersive 'Smugglers Gambit' Experience
Disney and Epic Games are pushing the boundaries of immersive brand experiences with their latest collaboration. The two companies have launched 'Smugglers Gambit,' a new Star Wars adventure inside Fortnite that connects to the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run ride at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.
The experience allows guests to accept a special mission while waiting for the ride through the My Disney Experience app, collect virtual crates during the ride, and redeem those crates for rewards in Smugglers Gambit after linking their Disney and Epic Games accounts.
This innovative approach marks a significant step towards creating seamless experiences that blur the lines between physical and digital worlds. 'A story doesn't have to end when you leave the park,' said Julia Humphreys, vice president of production at Disney Digital Entertainment. 'With this foundational experience, we wanted to prove out something we've believed for a long time.'
