Disney Approves Imagination Pavilion Revamp Plans Ahead of D23
Disney may soon announce plans to revamp its Imagination pavilion at EPCOT in Walt Disney World. According to multiple sources, redevelopment plans have been approved by Disney officials, and an announcement could be made as early as this weekend during the D23 Fan Event in Anaheim.
The Imagination pavilion has a long history at EPCOT, dating back to 1983 when Journey Into Imagination first opened with Dreamfinder and Figment. The pavilion has undergone several changes over the years, including a rework in 1999 as Journey Into Your Imagination, which was met with poor guest response.
Figment remains one of the most popular characters at EPCOT, driving strong merchandise sales and starring in the park's annual International Festival of the Arts. A meet-and-greet area for Figment opened in 2023, but guests waited up to five hours on opening day to meet the character.
Disney CEO Bob Iger and Josh D'Amaro were asked about Figment at shareholder meetings in 2025-2026, with leadership stating that the character is being considered for new content. However, no plans were confirmed.
