Disney Archives Celebrates 55 Years of Walt Disney World with D23 Event

The Walt Disney Archives is teaming up with D23 to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Walt Disney World Resort. The event, titled What's Happening, will take place on Sunday, October 4 at Disney's Contemporary Resort.

The celebration will include a panel discussion featuring Disney Legend Joe Rohde, who will reflect on highlights from his 40-year career with Walt Disney Imagineering and discuss the power of storytelling. The Walt Disney Archives will also explore the history and evolution of Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, sharing stories, discoveries, and newly acquired artifacts from the attraction.

Disney Imagineers working on updates to Carousel of Progress will share their inspirations and tease what's coming to the attraction. VIP ticket holders will enjoy a special dessert reception at Disney's Contemporary Resort with character meet-and-greets, while all attendees will receive a limited-release event pin featuring the classic Walt Disney World Resort logo.

Tickets for the panel will cost $62 each, regardless of membership type, and go on sale this Friday, August 28th at 10AM PST. VIP tickets, which include post-panel dessert party access, character meet-and-greets, and fireworks viewing, will be available for $162.
