Disney Auction Brings in Record-Breaking $705K, Kermit Steals the Show
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney partnered with Heritage Auctions for the first-ever auction of verified pieces from Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and other Disney destinations. The auction featured 50 lots, each starting at $1 with no reserve price.
The event drew in a total of $705,709, with 807 bidders participating. One of the standout items was the Kermit the Frog theater ornamentation from Muppet*Vision 3D, which sold for an astonishing $115,900.
This piece, used in the attraction from 1991 until its closure in 2025, measured roughly 32 inches wide and depicted Kermit wearing a laurel crown and holding a megaphone. Other notable sales included a Miss Piggy theater ornamentation that sold for $73,200 and an original Big Thunder Mountain Railroad ride vehicle.
The auction also included a variety of other unique items, such as a park-used trash can from Disneyland's Tomorrowland that sold for $12,200. The event was seen as a preview to a larger Disney Experiences auction scheduled for October 23-25, 2026, which is expected to include over 1,500 lots.
