Disney is reviving its classic animated series Gargoyles, according to Brent Spiner, who voiced Puck in the original 1994 show. Spiner made the announcement on his podcast Dropping Names … and other things, where he co-hosts with Jonathan Frakes.

The new animated series is separate from a live-action version that has been in development at Disney+ since 2023, with Gary Dauberman writing and James Wan's Atomic Monster producing. There is no word on the creative team, cast, format, release plan, or whether it will continue the original story or start over.

Gargoyles was created by Greg Weisman for Walt Disney Television Animation and followed a clan of ancient Scottish gargoyles transported to modern-day Manhattan. The show ran 78 episodes over three seasons and used a serialized storytelling approach, with heavy use of mythology and Shakespearean elements.
