Disney California Adventure Set to Double in Size with New Avengers and Avatar Attractions
Disney California Adventure is on the verge of a major transformation. The park will be doubling in size as it welcomes two new Avengers Campus attractions and an 'Avatar' water ride.
The 'Avatar' attraction model, revealed at D23, shows the ride snaking around the Disneyland Monorail and features a lush, green landscape that will transform the look of California Adventure. The ride vehicles appear to be six rows with five or six guests per row, flanked by cascading waterfalls and mountains.
The 'Avatar' expansion is part of an expansive booth dedicated to Disney's global parks at D23. It was revealed alongside a model of Piston Peak, a 'Cars'-inspired land coming to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom. Imagineering has also revealed a look at the soon-to-be remodeled Avengers Campus, which will feature two new attractions that will double its size.
The two Avengers Campus rides will have drastically different styles. One is a previously announced ride featuring the Avengers in battle across the multiverse with King Thanos. The other, Stark Flight Lab, is pitched as a testing of new Avengers technology and will be an amusement-park-like thrill ride that simulates sensations of flight.
