Disney Cast Member Killed in Suspected Lightning Strike in Florida
A young man working at Walt Disney World in Florida has died after being struck by lightning. Matthew Eric Jenkins, 20, was found unresponsive on a walking path behind a hotel in downtown Celebration, a town adjacent to Disney property, after a storm rolled in.
Jenkins had only recently moved to the area from Michigan to participate in the Disney College Program, an internship program for college students. People who were taking shelter from the storm witnessed Jenkins collapse and immediately came to his aid.
A witness, Felipe Costa, described the scene: 'As soon as I heard that, I started running and I came over here. That's when I saw the man.' Another person began CPR until emergency responders arrived.
