Disney Channel Legend Jim Geoghan Passes Away at 79

Jim Geoghan, co-creator of the beloved Disney Channel classic The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, has passed away at the age of 79. He died on Sunday, September 7, in Los Angeles. Geoghan's work extended beyond television to theater and stand-up comedy.

Geoghan started his career in the early 1970s as part of a comedy trio called Divided We Stand. The group performed at various New York clubs, including the Improvisation Cafe, The Bitter End, Catch A Rising Star, and The Bottom Line. They also shared stages with notable acts like Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, The Beach Boys, and Jimmy Buffett.

Geoghan eventually transitioned to television writing, contributing to shows such as Three's Company, Sanford, Too Close for Comfort, The Facts of Life, and The Van Dyke Show. He wrote 18 episodes of Silver Spoons between 1983 and 1987 and produced It's Garry Shandling's Show from 1986 to 1990.

Geoghan also co-created the Disney Channel show The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, which aired for three seasons from 2005 to 2008 and earned two Emmy nominations. He later served as executive producer of its spin-off, The Suite Life on Deck.
