Disney Confirms The Mandalorian and Grogu Box Office Flop

Disney's live-action Star Wars series, The Mandalorian and Grogu, has been deemed a box office disappointment by the company itself. According to Disney CEO Josh D'Amaro, the film underperformed expectations at the domestic and international box offices, earning $177.7 million domestically and $167.4 million internationally for a worldwide total of $345.2 million.

This is the lowest-grossing live-action Star Wars movie ever released, falling short of the previous franchise low set by 2018's Solo: A Star Wars Story at $392 million.

D'Amaro attempted to spin the lackluster performance by highlighting the film's success in driving retail sales for the Star Wars franchise and drawing guests to theme park rides. However, the numbers suggest that these revenue streams may not be enough to offset the significant box office shortfall.
