Disney Confirms Zootopia 3 Sequel in Early Development
Walt Disney Animation Studios has officially confirmed that 'Zootopia 3' is in early development. At D23, Disney's creative chief Jared Bush announced the sequel alongside Ginnifer Goodwin and Ke Huy Quan, who will both return for the film.
Bush revealed that the story will take place in an animal metropolis where birds have arrived. 'You can expect to see all the characters you loved in the first two films as Zootopia goes to the birds with some feathery fliers,' he said, adding that 'there's quite a lot more stories to tell.'
The film's development comes after the massive success of 'Zootopia 2', which opened on November 26, 2025 and has taken in $1.87 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing animated Motion Picture Association film of all time.
