Disney Cracks Down on 'Reservation Walking' with New Modification Rule
Disney Vacation Club has introduced a new modification rule to ban 'reservation walking,' a practice where members book high-demand rooms at Disney's Walt Disney World and Disneyland properties, then modify their reservations to secure those dates.
The rule change affects home resort reservations, which can be modified up to 11 months from the original check-out date. This effectively blocks members from booking dummy dates and then modifying them to secure their desired travel period.
Reservation walking was particularly advantageous for low-supply, high-demand resorts and room categories, such as the Grand Californian and Crescent Lake Resorts during peak events like EPCOT Food & Wine Festival.
The new rule is part of Disney Vacation Club's ongoing efforts to crack down on commercial rentals and ensure that members are using their points for personal use. The change is aimed at preventing members from exploiting loopholes and maximizing their points, which has led to frustration among regular Disney Vacation Club members.
