Disney Creatives Take Viewers Inside Their Own Worlds in New Documentary Series
A new documentary series on Disney+ offers an exclusive look at how some of the most iconic Disney stories come to life. 'Disney Worldbuilders' takes viewers on a journey through the minds and experiences of creatives like Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, as they explore their own stories in Disney parks around the world.
The documentary is directed by Leslie Iwerks, granddaughter of Disney Legend Ub Iwerks, who sketched Mickey Mouse for the first time. She aims to provide a fresh perspective on how Disney storytellers connect with the worlds they helped build. The film features creatives visiting destinations like Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge and Pixar Pier.
The series also gives viewers an early look at upcoming attractions like Avengers: Infinity Defense, which will feature guests joining battle alongside the Avengers to defeat King Thanos. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said his favorite part of any land is a construction wall because 'it means more is coming.' He added that Imagineers had mocked up the attraction in Glendale, and it looked amazing even on a rolling chair.
Iwerks hopes viewers will be inspired by the documentary, especially aspiring storytellers. She wants them to realize they can find their own path to becoming something bigger than what they anticipate at this moment.
