Disney Defends Higher Ticket Prices with New Capacity and Value-Added Experiences
Disney has faced criticism over its increasing ticket prices, with some guests facing a $219 one-day Magic Kingdom visit. However, Disney's Chief Financial Officer Hugh Johnston explained that the company raises prices when it believes it is delivering more value to customers.
The company is investing heavily in new capacity, including new lands and attractions at Walt Disney World, such as Tropical Americas and Monstropolis. This increased capacity will allow for a more efficient use of available space, reducing pressure on existing headliners and giving guests more options for their visit.
Disney also emphasized its focus on managing attendance and using variable pricing to influence when different groups visit. While this has led some critics to accuse the company of artificial scarcity, Disney's public statements do not support this claim.
