Disney Delivers Updates on Ongoing Projects at D23
The Disney Experiences panel at D23 delivered updates on several ongoing projects at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. One of the main focuses was Piston Peak, a new Cars-themed area coming to Magic Kingdom. Two new attractions will be part of this expansion: Cars: Ridge Run Rally and Miss Fritter's Daredevil Spin-Along. The first is an off-road racing attraction with a unique ride system designed to simulate the bumps, dips, and road elements found on Route 66. The second will feature guests spinning around in vehicles inspired by the character Miss Fritter.
Another major update came from Monstropolis at Disney's Hollywood Studios, where a portion of the land is set to open in 2027 with shows, restaurants, and shops. This includes Welcome to Monstropolis, a live show featuring monsters on stage and elevated areas for a truly immersive experience. The main attraction, the Door Coaster, will feature a suspended ride that lifts guests 40 feet in just four seconds.
Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom also received updates, with the Indiana Jones attraction now named Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent. Harrison Ford's likeness will be used for the Indiana Jones Audio-Animatronic. The ride system is based on the popular Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland but features a new story, scenes, and animatronics.
Villains Land, another construction site in Magic Kingdom, was also detailed. This land will focus on Disney's most infamous villains, including Dr. Facilier, Maleficent, and Cruella de Vil. The main attraction will be a Maleficent-themed coaster with tight turns and potential tipping-track elements.
