Disney Ditches 24-Month Graduation Rule for College Program Applicants
The Disney College Program, a semester-long internship for current and recently graduated university students, has announced changes to its eligibility requirements. Starting from the spring 2027 semester, applicants who have already graduated college must have done so within the last 12 months of the application launch date. This change marks a return to a previous policy, which was introduced when the Disney College Program was reinstated after its pandemic-era break.
The new rule has caused disappointment among some prospective applicants, with many sharing their frustration on Reddit. Some had planned their post-college plans around the 24-month rule, which allowed graduates to apply up to two years after graduation. The change has left them feeling anxious and uncertain about their chances of participating in the program.
To soften the blow, Disney is offering a specialized role for alumni of previous College Programs or cast members currently enrolled in a College Program. The Premium Services VIP Tour Support cast member will provide ancillary support to tour guides across Walt Disney World, with arrivals beginning in January 2027 and potential opportunities to extend their program.
The eligibility requirements for the Disney College Program remain largely unchanged, with applicants needing to be at least 18 years old, currently enrolled or have recently graduated from an accredited college or university. They must also be in good academic standing and have valid work authorization in the United States for the full duration of their program.
