Disney Executive Chuck Saftler Departs After 32-Year Career
Longtime Disney executive Chuck Saftler is leaving his role after more than three decades at the company. Saftler, who joined FX in December 1993, seven months before the network launched, will depart on October 16th.
Saftler served as Head of Acquisitions for ABC, Disney Kids and Family, FX and National Geographic within Disney's Platform Distribution group. He is not retiring but stepping down to consider his next professional chapter.
During his time at FX, Saftler rose to President of Program Strategy and Chief Operating Officer of FX Networks, playing a major role in shaping the network's acquisition and programming strategies. One of his notable deals was acquiring The Simpsons in 2013 for an estimated $700 million to $1 billion.
In a statement, Saftler expressed gratitude to his colleagues and creative partners, saying 'it has been a privilege to work alongside each and every one of you.' He will be succeeded by Sean Cocchia, EVP of Global Entertainment Networks, Research and Business Operations.
