Disney Extends Permit for Abandoned Star Wars Building, Converts It Into Office Space
The former Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser building at Walt Disney World has been sitting abandoned since its closure in September 2023. The property, which was once a multi-day immersive experience, struggled with occupancy and never became profitable.
Disney has now extended a construction permit for the site until August 25, 2027, allowing crews to continue work on converting the building into office space for Walt Disney Imagineering.
The Galactic Starcruiser building will eventually be used by the teams responsible for developing Disney's future attractions and experiences. This marks a dramatic change from its original purpose as a themed destination for paying guests.
