Disney Files New Construction Permit for Indiana Jones Ride Amid Shift in Timeline
A new construction permit has been filed for Disney's upcoming Indiana Jones & The Myth of the Jade Serpent ride at Walt Disney World's Animal Kingdom. According to documents, Buena Vista Construction Company will be providing labor and materials for the project, as per the notice of commencement filed on September 11, 2026.
The permit was filed by Walt Disney World Resort, which suggests general construction work rather than theming-specific tasks, unlike a previous extension in July. The Indiana Jones ride is currently under construction within the Tropical Americas land and features an original story with an imposing audio-animatronic of Tsukán, who will appear as a Maya temple guardian.
The colorful Mayan temple facade has already started being installed in pieces, matching the design revealed in a miniature ride model showcased at D23 2026. The Indiana Jones & The Myth of the Jade Serpent ride is scheduled to open in 2027, but its timeline was recently removed from Disney's official website.
